Medical Center Hospital
As the regional referral hospital for the 17 county area, Medical Center Hospital has been providing comprehensive and compassionate medical care to residents since it opened in 1949. The original hospital was established with 85 beds and has expanded to its current licensed capacity of 363 beds.
Medical Center Hospital is recognized by the State of Texas as the lead trauma facility for the region. As well as trauma and emergency services, MCH is a leader in cardiovascular services, inpatient and outpatient therapy; diagnostic testing; and bariatric services, as well as womens services and our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). A few of the specialty areas include MCH Center for Heart Disease, MCH Diabetes Center, MCH Family Health Center, MCH Ann Roden Deaderick Cardiac and Pulmonary Center, MCH Wound Care, MCH Spirit of Women, MCH Perinatal Center and the Dr. Wheatley Stewart Medical Pavilion. Medical Center Hospital is proud to offer MCH CareStar, the exclusive air ambulance service for the Permian Basin. MCH is the second largest employer in Ector County with more than 1,400 employees. More than 225 physicians are on staff, practicing nearly 30 medical specialties. MCH is the primary teaching hospital for Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at the Permian Basin. MCH is also a Childrens Miracle Network (CMN) Hospital, one of only 170 across the country.
As the community hospital, MCH is owned by the Ector County Hospital District and is governed by a seven-member district board of directors elected by Ector County voters.
