Dr. Ikemefuna Okwuwa is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community
Medicine and also currently serving as the Regional Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs
at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center of the Permian Basin. He received
his medical degree from the University of Benin, Edo State, Nigeria and completed
his Family Medicine Residency training at Texas Tech University Health Science Center
of the Permian Basin in 2012 where he served as Chief Resident and House Staff President.
Dr. Okwuwa is a member of several state and national organizations including the American
Academy of Family Physicians, Texas Medical Association, Texas Academy of Family Physicians
(TAFP). He served as Associate Director (Resident), TAFP Board of Directors from 2011-2012,
was named TAFP member of the month in April 2012 and received the Dean's Resident
Teacher Award for 2011-2012.
Dr. Okwuwa is Board Certified in Family Medicine and his interests include women's
healthcare, as well as resident and student education.
