Service Projects Update
Improving Communities
The Double T Health Service Corps worked with Habitat for Humanity, by participating in two build dates during the Fall. Habitat is repainting the outside of eight homes, as well as building two new homes for families in need.
Mentoring Youth

The Double T Health Service Corps hosted a booth at the South Plains Career Expo, where high school students learned how to do sutures on pigs' feet. The Career Expo is held annually, and more than 2,500 high school juniors from across the region come to learn about different career opportunities and education programs available after high school.

Health Promotion/Health Education

The Double T Health Service Corps hosted a "Healthy Kids" booth at three events this Fall (Littlefield Health Fair, Lockney Health Fair, and Roscoe-Wilson Elementary School Fall Festival), where families learned how to make healthy snacks (Peanut Butter Pinwheels and "Ants on a Log"). Kids also participated in an obstacle course, learning the importance of being physically active to stay healthy.
Littlefield, located in Lamb County 35 miles west of Lubbock, is a rural community that is both a Health Professional Shortage Area and a Medically Underserved Area.
Lockney, located in Floyd County 15 miles west of Plainview, is a Medically Underserved Area.
