curriculum

Training for full-spectrum care
  • Our students gain a comprehensive understanding of specialties across the board, from geriatric and pediatric pharmacotherapy to experiences with rural and underserved populations. TTUHSC offers the largest joint PharmD/MBA program in the country, as well as a joint PharmD/MPH program. In collaboration with health-systems and local pharmacies, we train 30 pharmacy residents each year and have one of the largest pharmacy residency programs in the country, serving patients in both rural and urban settings.
Learn, teach and experience
  • Team-taught courses combine basic science and clinical faculty experiences for an all-encompassing understanding. We emphasize hands-on learning, simulation training and student-led independent study, and provide four years of Inter-professional education experiences in collaboration with our Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Veterinary Medicine and Health Professions. Each of our facilities include state-of-the-art anatomage tables, compounding labs, and simulation centers.
Robust, diverse curriculum
  • Year 1 – Foundational sciences with an early introduction to pharmacy practice
  • Year 2 – Emphasis on clinical sciences, therapeutics and pharmacy operations with community outreach-based practice
  • Year 3 – Emphasis on therapeutics and pharmacy operations with half-day introductory clinical rotations
  • Year 4 – Direct patient care in advanced pharmacy practice rotations
