Presidential Communications

Dear TTUHSC Community,
As we continue to experience cases of COVID-19 across the state — and as we enter the annual flu season — your university leadership believes precautions remain necessary help minimize the spread of viruses.
EVENTS - MEETINGS - GATHERINGS
Attendance at 25% of space occupancy
Effective Monday, October 18, TTUHSC will modify its temporary attendance limitation on indoor and outdoor university-sponsored conferences, meetings and events, held on or off-campus. Through December 31, these activities will be limited to 25% occupancy, while ensuring appropriate physical distancing between individuals. Exceptions for up to 50% occupancy may be granted with appropriate dean, vice president or provost approval.
Attendance for academic instruction, residency workshops and orientation activities will continue at 100% occupancy. Steps should be taken to ensure physical distancing between individuals.
FOOD AND DRINK
Continuance of packaging and distribution to ensure minimal contact
Through December 31, providing food and beverages at university-sponsored conferences, meetings and events is allowed under respective TTUHSC operating policies. Event organizers must follow occupancy limits and take precautions when food and beverages are served to ensure minimal contact between individuals, such as providing single-serve “boxed" packaging, plated meals or serviced buffet lines. Self-served buffets are not permitted.
We must continue to be proactive to reduce our risk of becoming infected and help keep others healthy. TTUHSC team members and students are highly recommended to wear facial coverings on campus and are required to wear masks in patient care areas, regardless of vaccination status.
In this regard, I urge our university community to live our values, responding as one team, out of respect for one another and those we serve.
Your individual and collective actions will help ensure that we continue operations without disruptions.
Warmest regards,
Lori Rice-Spearman, Ph.D.
