Endowed Chair in Geriatric Oncology

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine at Amarillo Division of Geriatric Medicine is seeking a physician who is board certified in Internal Medicine and board certified or board eligible in Geriatrics and who has a strong interest in applying the principles of geriatric care in a predominantly cancer patient population.  Preferred applicants have experience in clinical research with extramural funding. State demographic data indicates a prevalence of some cancers in our region that is above the state’s average.  This faculty member will be an active member of our growing Geriatric Division which is composed of geriatricians from the Department of Family & Community Medicine and Department of Internal Medicine.  This position will also have the opportunity for collaboration with other Endowed Chairs and with faculty within the Schools of Pharmacy and Allied Health.

Clinical research is highly encouraged and strong support can be provided through our endowed Clinical Research Unit which includes assistance with the IRB process, a science writer, biostatistician, and research nurse.

As a recipient of a Donald W. Reynolds Foundation grant the School of Medicine has developed geriatrics content pod casts. Topics are developed with the education of medical students in mind.  The Portal of Geriatric Online Education (POGOe) is a product of the American Geriatrics Society , the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, ADGAP, the Veterans Administration, and the John A. Hartford Foundation.
