Anita Thigpen Perry School of Nursing

In the Anita Thigpen Perry School of Nursing (ATPSON), student services are housed in the Office of the Dean. The Director of Student Services and Administration is responsible for providing student services for undergraduate students and graduate students. Within the ATPSON Office of the Dean, the director oversees student grievances, scholarships, the catalog, handbook, and communication. Program coordinators within each program major provides advising, management of student enrollment, and communication

Student Financial Aid

Distance Learning Students are also eligible to apply for these two scholarships:

Phonathon/Thankathon Scholarship is open for all currently enrolled Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center students with a GPA of 2.5 or better. Scholarships are awarded based on 3 criteria: organization participation, community service, and participation in a thankathon writing session. This scholarship is held during the fall semester and an email is sent to each student by the director of Student Services. Awards range from $500 - $1500. Contact the Office of Student Services for additional information 806-743-3027.

The Double T Scholarship is open to all Health Sciences Center students that maintain a 2.5 GPA or better and is awarded during the spring semester. An email from the director of Student Services will be sent to all students. The students need not be present to win. Awards range from $100 - $250. Commencement

All graduating distance learning students are invited to attend graduation at the TTUHSC Lubbock campus. Texas Tech University Health Sciences center holds one annual Commencement Ceremony for all Schools in May. TTUHSC Student Services assists students in filling out their graduation paperwork, provides them with information needed to purchase TTUHSC rings, regalia and announcements, as well as sends out Commencement week information to parents and families. As an added service, the TTUHSC Student Services will work with area hotels to block off rooms to ensure that out of town guests will have lodging. Please visit the TTUHSC Student Services web site.

Health and Wellness

Health Services For distance learning students who live close to one of the TTUHSC regional campuses, Family & Community Medicine clinic provides health services to TTUHSC students who are currently enrolled and have paid the Student Health Fees as part of tuition and fees. To receive health services, you must present a Student I.D. card at the time of the appointment. If you also have private insurance in addition to Student Health Services, you will need to submit your receipt for the co-pay to your insurance company for reimbursement. The Student Health Fee covers only those services provided by the Family & Community Medicine clinic and specific laboratory and radiology service performed at cooperating locations. All other charges incurred is your responsibility. To obtain a Student I.D. card, contact Student Services at the Lubbock Campus at 806-743-3200.

Health Insurance - For distance learning students who do not able to go to a regional campus, health insurance is strongly recommended for all students to cover major medical, emergency care, specialty care, and pharmacy as these services can be expensive. Visit the TTUHSC Student Services web site for insurance information.

Program of Assistance for Students Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center provides the Program of Assistance for Students (PAS) as a resource to promote health and wellness in your personal and academic life. If something is bothering you, whatever the issue, call PAS to see how we can be helpful. PAS counselors are trained in addressing all types of problems, including: depression, family and relationship problems excessive stress and anxiety, alcohol and drug abuse, tobacco use problems, or other problems in living. For distance learning students who live close to one of the TTUHSC regional campuses, counseling is available at these campuses. For those students who do not live close to a regional campus, please contact the Counseling Center at the Lubbock Campus for a referral. 806-743-1327 or 1-800-327-0328 24 hours/7 days a week.

Raider CheckUp

The nationwide shortage of healthcare professionals ensures that almost every TTUHSC graduate in the health sciences obtains employment following graduation. Available data from all TTUHSC schools indicate that successful graduates from TTUHSC programs who pass relevant licensure examinations and seek employment in their field are able to obtain jobs in their field. Job postings are available through Raider CheckUp which is part of the services of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Alumni Association.
