Focus Groups

ACCION for Rural West Texas is currently in the planning stages of our community focus groups designed to help us better understand how to serve our communities. We will be conducting the focus groups in each of our nine county service areas and all community members will receive a $10 gift card for participating. National Night Out Community Block Party at the Salvation Army

What:   Enjoy this FREE summer fun night with hot dogs, desserts, snow cones, a water slide, an obstacle course, bingo and prizes, other games, plus more! There will be vendors of many different kinds providing information on various services for the community. This event is BEACH THEMED, so bring your sunscreen and flip flops!

Texas Tech University Back to School Fiesta

What:   Back to School Fiesta is an event which provides the opportunity for members of the local and surrounding communities and their children to visit the Tech campus, learn about numerous educational, local and federal programs and initiatives, and receive free school supplies for the upcoming school year. Last year we saw more than 4,000 visitors during our event and we hope to welcome even more students and their families this year.
One of the most vital parts of Back to School Fiesta is the involvement of our community partners. From promotional tables to hands-on engagement, our event offers organizations the opportunity to host activities, displays and demonstrations which encourage education, health and wellness to members of our community and their families. In addition, participation in the Back to School Fiesta outdoor fair provides organizations with the opportunity to engage in low cost, highly-targeted marketing.

Managed Care Center Community Block Party

What:   Fun and FREE for the whole family! Hot dogs, sodas, music, games, face painting, a dunking booth, prizes and MORE. There will also be vendors on site to provide information about different programs and services around our community. Come join us!

Annual Caregiver Conference

Sponsor: South Plains Area Agency on Aging (SPAG AAA)

Where: Prosperity Bank Annex Building (1501 Ave. Q) Lubbock, TX

What:   This conference is open to the public and available to family caregivers, as well as to anyone facing the difficult challenge of dementia, and those who want to learn methods for dealing with stress that comes with caregiving. This event will allow organizations from across the South Plains to provide information about health initiatives and care to community members and allow for networking opportunities between agencies and organizations.
