Master of Public Health Scholarship Opportunities

The Department of Public Health within the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, invites applications for scholarships from the students who have received admissions into the Master of Public Health program to build their career in public health professions. This scholarship is only for the applicants who are admitted to the Department of Public Health for the face to face Master of Public Health program and completed and submitted their application to the GSBS by March 15th. Current students are not eligible. The completed application packet for admission will be considered as part of the scholarship application. A full application will be considered upon the submission of the answers to the two public health related questions that are due by May 1st.

The scholarship range is from $250 - $1,000 per year. Number of scholarships and awarded amounts will be determined by the number of applicants and availability of funds.

Application Deadline: March 15th.

To consider a full scholarship application packet, student must complete the following questions within the specified word counts. Please submit your answers before May 1st on a separate page. The successful candidates will be notified by May 15th.


  • Describe a public health issue affecting your community. (500 words or less)
  • In your opinion, what is one of the greatest public health accomplishments of the twenty-first century? (500 words or less)

Rural Health COMPETITIVE Scholarship

Competitive scholarships are awarded by the various concentrations and programs within GSBS. It is up to the concentration/program to determine the amount and number of scholarships they will be awarding each year based on the funds available and other factors determined by each concentration/program.

Criteria to be reviewed holistically include:

• Undergraduate GPA


• Letters of Recommendation

• Essay

• Personal Interview (Optional)

Students must also maintain satisfactory progress on their degree plan and remain in good standing. If a student goes onto academic probation, they will lose their scholarship for the next semester. During the semester of the forfeited scholarship, if a student has a semester GPA above a 3.0, the scholarship may be renewed.

Award Amount $500.00 - $2,000.00
