Cover Your Assets - Control Environment and Cash Handling

Description:

This class is designed for employees with the responsibility of ensuring organizational goals are accomplished as well as employees involved in the processes of receipting or depositing funds. Administrators, Managers, Supervisors, Cashiers and Clerks are highly encouraged to attend. The course is approximately 1.5 hours in duration.

EEO/ Sexual Harassment (Online)

Retraining Required: 24 months

Description:

The primary goal of this course is to enable participants to identify, avoid and report employment discrimination behaviors. With this knowledge, employees can help keep TTUHSC free of discrimination. It complies with the Texas Labor Code, Chapter 21, Section 21.010 which requires state agencies to provide initial and supplemental training (every 2-years) on employment discrimination and sexual harassment to employees.
*This online course is approved for use by ALL HSC employees to include management personnel in meeting Texas Labor Code requirements.

The primary goal of this course is designed to enable participants to identify, avoid and report employment discrimination behaviors. With this knowledge, employees can help keep Texas Tech free of discrimination. It complies with the Texas Labor Code, Chapter 21, Section 21.010 which requires state agencies to provide initial and supplemental training (every 2-years) on employment discrimination and sexual harassment to employees. In addition to this instructor-led EEO course, the online course "EEO/ Sexual Harassment (Online)" is also available for all HSC employees to include management personnel.

Introduction to Personal Computers / Microsoft Windows 2000

Description:

This course is designed for the student who is new to personal computers and needs to learn the basics about how to navigate the Windows 2000 environment. Students will gain the skills needed to create a document and organize data using electronic files and folders. The course also covers how to clean up your computer system using My Computer and the Recycle Bin. Students will learn to navigate the Internet and how to locate information using the search function.

The course is an Instructor led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured hands-on activities.

Microsoft Access - Level 1

Description:

This course is for the new user of Access and assumes no experience with relational databases. The topics cover the critical skills you need to get started creating databases in Access and working with the data by using tables, queries, forms, and reports. Students will practice the critical skills necessary to create a database and enter, find, edit, and report on the data it contains.

Microsoft Excel - Level 1

Description:

This course will give you the skills to create, edit, format, and print basic worksheets and charts in Excel. Students will also learn basic formulas used in Excel.

Microsoft Outlook - Level 1

Description:

In this course, you will learn the basics of using Microsoft Outlook 2002 as a communications tool. You will send and receive mail messages, use a calendar to schedule appointments, and coordinate business meetings with multiple participants. You will also learn to keep track of personal and business contacts, and create task lists and notes to remind you of things that need to be done.

The course is an instructor-led, group-paced, classroom-delivery learning model with structured, hands-on activities.

The target student for this course is an office professional who is familiar with the Windows environment and wants to use Microsoft Outlook to coordinate and manage mail, appointments, meetings, tasks, and notes

Microsoft PowerPoint - Level 1

Description:

This course provides the learner with the basic knowledge needed to produce a PowerPoint presentation. The course covers creating a presentation, drawing objects, charts and tables on slides. Other topics include formatting text slides, animating slides, developing speaker notes, spell check and printing options.

This course is designed for students who are interested in learning the fundamentals needed to create and modify basic Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 presentations.

Performance Management for Non-Management Employees

Description:

This workshop is designed to provide non-supervisory employees with an overview of TTUHSC OP 70.12, Performance Management.

The workshop will also assist employees with understanding how the performance management process is designed to work. The program will explain the employee's role and responsibilities during the performance management process and what they should expect.

SERVICEplus

SERVICEplus at TTUHSC is part of the TTU System quality service program and is designed to provide supervisory and non-supervisory TTUHSC staff employees with the tools necessary to provide excellent quality service at TTUHSC.

All new staff employees are expected to attend the appropriate 4-hour SERVICEplus workshop within their first 90 days of employment as part of orientation to TTUHSC. In addition, staff employees who completed a SERVICEplus training workshop prior to 2005 are highly encouraged to refresh their customer service skills by attending one of the revised workshops. Non-staff employees are also welcome and encouraged to attend SERVICEplus training.

The following workshops were revised in September 2007 and make up the SERVICEplus Training Program at TTUHSC:

SERVICEplus - Leading Service Excellence

Leading Service Excellence is a 4-hour workshop designed to provide TTUHSC supervisors, managers, and administrators with the tools needed to create a quality service environment within their departments. Upon completion of this workshop, you will be able to:

Service Excellence is a 4-hour workshop designed to provide non-supervisory TTUHSC employees with the tools needed to provide excellent quality service to TTUHSC customers. Upon completion of this workshop, you will be able to:

TTUHSC LEADership PROGRAM

LEVEL I (The Manager-Leader)

Overview: The 26-hour TTUHSC LEADership (Leadership Enhancement and Development) Program is designed to provide new supervisors and managers (management) with an introduction to the fundamental management skills needed to effectively carry out their duties while integrating essential leadership qualities desired in all employees. Although the program’s emphasis is on new supervisors and managers, it is recommended for all TTUHSC personnel who serve in a management capacity.

Prerequisites: To get the most out of the TTUHSC LEADership Level 1 Program, individuals attending should be serving in a management capacity or preparing to assume management responsibilities within 6-months from date of enrollment. Individuals wishing to attend the LEADership program will also be expected to:
- Receive departmental approval before enrolling.
- Complete Modules 1-7 in sequence as well as the comprehensive online assessment.
- Be committed to not only completing the program, but to applying the principles learned in the daily execution of their management duties at TTUHSC.

Program Completion: A certificate of completion will be awarded upon the successful completion of Modules 1-7 and the comprehensive online assessment.

PROGRAM SEQUENCE:

Module 1: Introduction to TTUHSC LEADership (4-hours). During Module 1, participants will receive an overview of the LEADership Level 1 program. They will also complete a True Colors® personality style inventory that will facilitate the learning and application of manager-leader concepts covered throughout the program.

Module 2: Fundamentals for the Manager-Leader (4-hours). During this module, participants will be introduced to the concept of the "Manager-Leader" and the role they play as a manager-leader in accomplishing the mission of TTUHSC. Participants will be introduced to fundamental skills required of all manager-leaders to include:

Module 3: Human Resources 101 (4-hours) - Takes an in-depth look at the HR function. This includes HR procedures and systems used at TTUHSC as well as a segment on effective employee interviewing and selection.

Module 4: Conflict is part of the workplace and effective conflict management is an important manager-leader responsibility. This module teaches the skills necessary to identify conflict and the steps necessary to help turn conflict into a positive occurrence that leads to better understanding and more effective workplace relationships.

Module 5: Leading a Respectful Workplace (4-hours) - This module focuses on the importance of diversity in the workplace by helping participants better understand and appreciate the importance of an institutional climate that equally welcomes, values, nurtures and respects the culture and contributions of all members of our pluralistic society.

Module 6: Leadership Essentials: Creating Your Own Leadership Development Plan (2–hours) - This module exposes manager-leaders to a different type of learning, online learning. This course explores ways for participants to assess themselves as a leader, establish a vision for the future, and identify obstacles to that vision. It also teaches practical approaches for setting development goals, objectives, and actions designed to move you toward your vision. Lastly, it provides useful criteria for evaluating a personal leadership development plan.

Module 7: "Would I Follow Me?" (4-hours) - This is the final module of the TTUHSC LEADership Program, a capstone class which specifically addresses leadership. This module also allows participants to begin an action plan to use for continued development of their leadership skills.

Comprehensive Online Assessment - Consists of approximately 40 questions covering objectives addressed in Modules 1-7 and is required to be completed within 30 days following completion of Module 7.
