Operating Policy and Procedure
HSC OP: 75.02, TTUHSC Safety Committees
PURPOSE: The purpose of this Health Sciences Center Operating Policy and Procedure (HSC OP) is to provide guidance and assistance in the implementation of the various TTUHSC Safety Programs.
REVIEW: This HSC OP will be reviewed on January 1 of each odd-numbered year (ONY) by the Senior Director of Safety Services, the Senior VP for Research, and the Institutional Compliance Officer, with recommendations for revisions forwarded to the Vice President for Facilities and Safety Services by February 1.
POLICY/PROCEDURE:
1. TTUHSC is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all faculty, staff, students, volunteers, patients, and visitors. To accomplish this goal, a number of standing Safety Committees have been established, each with specific areas of responsibilities. These various institutional committees are structured with the Institutional Compliance and Risk Committee (ICRC) providing guidance and direction on matters of institutional concern falling outside of the scope of responsibilities for the various Safety Committees.
2. Organization. The standing Safety Committees include the following:
a. Radiation Safety Committee
b. Institutional Biosafety Committeea
c. Institutional Review Boards
d. Infection Control Committee
e. Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
f. Research Compliance Committee
g. Embryonic Stem Cell Research Oversight Committee
h. Clery Compliance and Drug and Alcohol Prevention Program Committee
i. Emergency Preparedness Committee
j. Quality Improvement Review Board
3. All TTUHSC campuses shall establish Campus Safety Committees to meet the unique needs of the respective campuses.
4. TTUHSC has established the position of Emergency Management Coordinator to support emergency preparedness activities. Refer to HSC OP 76.01, Attachment A for additional details.
