Correctional Medication Aide Training

Join the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Managed Care team as a Correctional Medication Aide (CMA) Trainee and complete your 8-week, virtual, on-the-job training as a Correctional Medication Aide. Offered in partnership with Cisco College.

Grow your skill set and make more money

• Earn at least $20.44 per hour or more after successfully completing the program.
• Earn $17.44 per hour as a TTUHSC team member during training and performing other job-related duties.

Work while training

• Program cost, book, application fee and exam fee covered by TTUHSC Managed Care.
• Clinical instruction and virtual classroom instruction will be conducted on correctional units or as directed by unit administrator.
• CMA training will take place Mondays - Thursdays from 1:00 - 5:00 PM.
• Other duties as assigned, while not attending classroom or clinical instruction. 

CMA Trainee positions are assigned to specific facilities:

• Clements (Amarillo)
• Allred (Wichita Falls)
• Lynaugh (Ft. Stockton)
• Smith (Lamesa)
• Montford (Lubbock - Regional Medical Facility)
• Montford (Lubbock - Psychiatry)

Prerequisites to apply:

• Applicants must apply for a CMA Trainee position assigned to the specific facility in which they are interested in working (links)   
• Able to read, write, speak and understand English  
• Have earned a high school diploma, GED or High School Equivalency Certificate and be able to obtain required documentation
• Be a minimum of 18 years of age
• Free of communicable diseases and in suitable physical and emotional health to safely administer medications
• Employed in a correctional facility or by a medical service contractor for a correctional facility on the first day of an applicant's medication aide training program, and have agency administrator approval

Step One: Talk to your supervisor and express your interest. After discussing with your supervisor, apply for the Correctional Medication Aide Training program and position at your respective unit. 

Step Two: Applications will be reviewed and screened for consideration.  Applicants who are selected to participate in the program will be notified.

Step Three: Applicants selected to participate in the program will need to complete the following:

1. Cisco College Correctional Med Aid package and submit via email to Correct.2dk9vptpnw55f943@u.box.com.

Upon being selected:

• Trainees MUST complete the Cisco College Enrollment Application (Go to www.cisco.edu. Select ADMISSIONS. Complete the online application. List Continuing Ed Non-Credit when asked what is your intended Program/Major.) 
• Trainees must complete the THHS General Enrollment form and provide documentation of high school diploma or GED and complete background screening.
