Neurodiagnostic Lab | Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center

Our Neurodiagnostic Lab uses state of the art equipment to perform a variety of diagnostic procedures.

Services Provided

  • Electroencephalograms (EEG)
  • Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV)
  • Electromyography (EMG)
  • Neurovascular Ultrasound
  • Neuromuscular Ultrasound
  • Botox®

These tests provide our physicians with valuable information to asses many neurological disorders and conditions such as seizure disorders, brainstem dysfunctions and nerve entrapments.

Electroencephalogram (EEG)

An EEG is a non-invasive procedure that traces the brain's electrical activity. During the procedure, electrodes are placed on the scalp to study brain function.  We have the ability to record up to 32 channels of EEG as well as audio and video during the exam.  EEG’s aide in diagnosing seizure disorders, headaches, dizziness, stroke and fainting episodes.  (To learn more about what to expect at an EEG click here.)

Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV)

This test evaluates the ability to send an electrical impulse through motor and sensory nerves of the human body.  During the test patients will have surface electrodes attached in various areas to them to record the electrical impulse.  Some of the more common diagnosis found with this test are carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathy and ulnar neuropathy.

Electromyography (EMG)

EMG tests the electrical activity of the muscles  This involves the physician placing a very thin needle electrode into various muscles.
