Shelby Ollinger BSN, RN graduated from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing in May 2014! She was accepted into the critical care internship at University Medical Center and is now on staff in the Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Very early in her nursing career, she has already been recognized for excellence in her hospital. She was awarded the UMC All-Star award and the Employee of the Month for not only taking care of patients in her unit, but when seeing them in the community of Lubbock, making a point to see how they are doing. Shelby says one of the best parts of her job is seeing a patient walking around her unit that has previously been in a comatose state. Shelby would like to someday sit for the CCRN certification and aspires to become a nurse practitioner. If Shelby could research one thing, she would look into the advancing science towards the cure of diabetes. On a personal note, Shelby is native to the Panhandle of Texas. Raised in Dumas, she attended Amarillo College for her pre-requisites and then transferred into TTUHSC. She has an older sister and a younger sister and enjoys playing basketball, going dancing, watching movies, and hanging out with her awesome friends!

Congratulations Shelby Ollinger! Sigma Theta Tau-Iota Mu is proud of your accomplishments so early in your career. Keep advancing the science of nursing and showing the compassionate care you have already demonstrated!
