Congratulations to Jeff Watson for being selected as February’s Member of the Month! Jeff began his nursing education in 1986 at South Plains College for his LVN and is now expected to graduate in May of 2016 with his Doctor of Nurse Practice from TTUHSC! He has attended Lubbock Christian University and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center along the way for his degrees in nursing. He is Director of Clinical Informatics and Graduate Faculty in the F Marie Hall SimLife Center at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He has served in numerous leadership roles and is the current Texas Nurses Association Vice President/American Nurses Association Membership Assembly Representative. When asked about the enjoyment of nursing, Jeff speaks to lifelong friends he has made in every role.

Jeff's research interest lies in direct-care practice. His doctoral work is on the contribution made to nursing practice through the Doctor of Nursing Practice capstone projects produced in brick-and-mortar schools of nursing in Texas and throughout the United States. He hopes to help others understand why nurses are so important in the delivery of care to the populations we serve. Jeff goes through life with his hands and heart open and never knows where his nursing career will go next. He wants nurses to engage in meaningful conversations resulting in ideas for healthier and more robust lives. Outside of nursing, Jeff is a foodie! He loves to cook! He loves to laugh and believes laughing should be a hobby! His favorite movie is Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Jeff believes that through building genuine relationships, nurses create the environment for positive and significant change!
