TTUHSC Faculty Senate
The Faculty Senate is the governance body for faculty in the Schools of Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences (TTUHSC). The purpose of the Faculty Senate is to promote interaction and collaboration between the members of the faculty of all schools as well as to represent the faculty as an advisory body to the TTUHSC President on common issues affecting institutional governance, the faculty and the faculty's responsibilities in teaching, practice, research, and service.
The Faculty Senate is composed of equal representation from the Faculty of all schools and will consider issues pertaining to individual schools as well as those common to all HSC Faculty. Individual Faculty members, Faculty governance committees and the Deans of any of the TTUHSC Schools together with the TTUHSC President may bring matters of concern to the attention of the Senate.
Serving as the collective voice of the faculty, the Faculty Senate seeks to participate in helping the TTUHSC achieve its mission of becoming a top-tier institution..
MONTHLY SENATE MEETINGS
Currently, the Faculty Senate usually meets on the first Friday of each month from 12:00 to 1:30 (CT). This date can be changed if conflicts present. The meetings are open, but the senate may elect by majority vote to go into executive session. Faculty may attend via zoom provided they notify the Senate Vice President at least one week prior to the meeting. An agenda for each meeting is posted on the web site prior to the meeting and minutes are posted after the meeting.
FULL FACULTY MEETINGS HOSTED BY THE TTUHSC FACULTY SENATE
Full faculty meetings hosted by the TTUHSC Faculty Senate are held twice per year via zoom. The TTUHSC President will be invited to present an address on the state of the institution at the Spring meeting. The schedule for the full faculty meetings hosted by the TTUHSC Faculty Senate has been standardized. The Fall meeting will be held on the second Wednesday of October each year and the Spring meeting will be held on the second Wednesday of April each year. Meeting times are usually scheduled during the lunch hours (12:00 - 1:30 CT)
August, 2022 - Changes in the constitution and bylaws have been made. The new contitution and bylaws are posted on the website.
March, 2020 - Due to COVID-19, all Faculty Senate meetings are held via zoom. Please contact the Faculty Senate for zoom information.
December 3, 2020 - The changes to the Constitution have been voted on and passed by the faculty of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. The website has been updated with the revised constitution.
