Rotation Overview
Our resident rotations are constructed to allow an earlier comprehensive education in the fundamentals of Anesthesia.
Intern Year
The intern year is in conjunction with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Department of Internal Medicine and offers rotations in both the Medical and Surgical Intensive Care Units, the General Inpatient medical service, and the Emergency Room.
- 5 months Internal Medicine inpatient
- 1 month Emergency Medicine
- 1 month Surgical ICU
- 1 month Medical ICU
- 1 month Cardiology
- 1 month Nephrology
- 1 month Pulmonology
- 1 month Heart Station
- 1 month Anesthesiology (June)
- 1 month Allergy
CA-1 Year
The CA-1 year provides rotations to provide the new anesthesiology resident with basic skills in delivering anesthesia for multiple different surgeries.
- 4 months General Operating Room
- 1 month Pediatric Anesthesia
- 1 month Neurosurgical Anesthesia
- 1 month Junior OB
- 1 month Airway
- 1 month Surgical ICU
- 1 month Echocardiography
- 1 month Pre-op
- 1 month PACU
CA-2 Year
The CA-2 year expands upon this knowledge base by offering rotations in anesthesia subspecialties including Neurosurgical, Cardiac and Pediatric anesthesia, as well as pain management.

- 1 month Regional Anesthesia
- 1 month Chronic Pain Management
- 1 month Cardiac Anesthesia
- 1 month Pediatric Anesthesia(Covenant)
- 1 month Pediatric Anesthesia (Dallas Children's)
- 1 month Neurosurgical Anesthesia (Covenant)
CA-3 Year
The CA-3 year prepares the anesthesia resident for their role as a practicing anesthesiologist, as well as expanding the exposure to perioperative medicine and operating room management.

- 1 month Acute Pain Management
- 1 month Cardiac Anesthesia
- 1 month Neurosurgical Anesthesia (Covenant)
- 1 month Operating Room management
- 1 month Cardiac ICU
- 5 months Electives
