Classic Disease Descriptions

Clinical skills have been deemphasized in undergraduate medical education, and the acquisition of these skills may be less exciting to students and teachers than an understanding of newer diagnostic technologies. This trend is reflected in the development of the modern medical textbook.

The standard medical text expands with each edition as it attempts to keep pace with new and complex diagnostic and treatment modalities. At the same time, clinical descriptions of disease have been condensed and simplified.

This website will provide the precise and elegant pictures of disease presented in the writings of the great clinicians of the past to help establish the primary role of  listening to and examining patients.
