Double-T Student Society of Health System Pharmacy
Double-T Student Society of Health-System Pharmacy has 101 members who are pharmacy
students enrolled in the TTUHSC School of Pharmacy. We are an affiliated chapter of
the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, a 30,000+ member national organization
of pharmacists from diverse areas of the profession of pharmacy. We are also affiliated
with the state level organization, the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists,
and the local Panhandle Society of Health-System Pharmacists, PSHP.
TTUHSC School of Pharmacy Student Senate
The mission of the Student Senate is " to organize and direct the student affairs
and activities of the School of Pharmacy, and to provide a source of communication
among the doctoral candidates, faculty, professional organizations, and all other
bodies, for the purpose of building a stronger educational institution."
Professional Organizations
The American Pharmacists Association (APhA), the national professional society of pharmacists, was founded in 1852 and is the first established and largest professional association of pharmacists in the United States. The more than 50,000 members of APhA include practicing pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, pharmacy students, pharmacy technicians, and others interested in advancing the profession.
The Association is a leader in providing professional information and education for pharmacists and an advocate for improved health of the American public through the provision of comprehensive pharmaceutical care.
Founded in 1900, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) is the national organization representing the interests of pharmaceutical education and educators. Comprising all 85 U.S. pharmacy colleges and schools including more than 4,000 faculty, 36,000 students enrolled in professional programs, and 3,600 individuals pursuing graduate study, AACP is committed to excellence in pharmaceutical education.
American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists
The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) provides a dynamic international
forum for the exchange of knowledge among scientists to enhance their contributions
to health.The organization offers timely scientific programs, on-going education,
opportunities for networking, and professional development.
American College of Clinical Pharmacy
The American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) is a professional and scientific
society that provides leadership, education, advocacy, and resources enabling clinical
pharmacists to achieve excellence in practice and research.
ACCP's membership is composed of practitioners, scientists, educators, administrators, students, residents, fellows, and others committed to excellence in clinical pharmacy and patient pharmacotherapy.
ASHP is the 30,000-member national professional association that represents pharmacists who practice in hospitals, health maintenance organizations, long-term care facilities, home care, and other components of health care systems. ASHP, which has a long history of medication-error prevention efforts, believes that the mission of pharmacists is to help people make the best use of medicines. Assisting pharmacists in fulfilling this mission is ASHP's primary objective.
The Society has extensive publishing and educational programs designed to help members improve their professional practice, and it is the national accrediting organization for pharmacy residency and pharmacy technician training programs.
The National Community Pharmacists Association, founded in 1898 as the National Association of Retail Druggists (NARD), represents the pharmacist owners, managers, and employees of nearly 25,000 independent community pharmacies across the United States. Independent pharmacists - more than 60,000 nationwide - dispense the majority of the nation's retail prescription drugs.
The nation's independent pharmacists are small business entrepreneurs and multifaceted health care providers who represent a vital part of the United States' health care delivery system. They have roots in America's communities. They are community leaders actively involved in community-oriented public health, civic, and volunteer projects. Many hold local elected offices; others serve as state legislators.
The mission of TSHP is to advance the practice of pharmacy and improve patient care through advocacy and by facilitating the growth, development, and recognition of our members as practitioners and leaders in health care.
Texas Pharmacy Association
The Texas Pharmacy Association (TPA) is made up of more than 3,000 members practicing
in all areas of pharmacy, including community pharmacies, hospitals, long-term care
facilities, education, manufacturing and distribution, and various government agencies.
Regardless of where they work they are all working in the profession, and they can
meet within TPA to work toward their common goals.
TPA's Academy based structure is designed to suit the specific needs of pharmacy in Texas. Whether a chain, clinical, compounding, retail setting Texas Pharmacy is THE VOICE for Pharmacy in Texas.
