P.A. Program Interviews

Congratulations on being granted an interview for the Nadine and Tom Craddick Physician Assistant Studies Program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center! We appreciate the opportunity to get to know you better. Below is some information that you may find useful as you prepare for your interview.
The mission of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Health Professions Physician Assistant Program is to educate and provide comprehensive medical training to physician assistant students. This training will be offered in a setting of academic excellence fostering the development of skilled primary care providers; thereby increasing access to healthcare to underserved areas of West Texas and beyond.
We are proud to announce the recent completion of a major renovation and expansion project of the PA Program facilities.
Virtual Interviews
The TTUHSC PA Program is pleased to offer web-based interviews through Zoom. A few days before your interview date, you will be sent the link to connect to your interview session.
Interview Format
Much of the day is devoted to providing the applicants an opportunity to learn more about the TTUHSC PA program in an effort to assure a good match between the Program and the applicant. We look at interview sessions as an opportunity to see how your skills and personality fit with the "personality" of our program. Interviews are intended to be a relatively low-stress experience.
Interview sessions typically take 4-5 hours and are conducted in small groups. Among other activities, we will provide an orientation to our program and collect a writing sample. Applicants will be interviewed individually by two faculty members, alumni, community PAs or Physicians.
Technology Requirements
This format requires you to have access to a webcam and microphone during your admissions interview, which will be conducted through Zoom. Though we would suggest that you join the interview through a personal computer or laptop, as we will be showing presentations, we understand that the technology you have available may not be sufficient and the use of Zoom through a smart phone will be a sufficient alternative. Please visit this Zoom Support Article to test that your webcam and microphone will be compatible with the Zoom application.
If you have any issues with testing your equipment or about your computer system requirements, please contact the SHP Technology Services team at shp.techsupport@ttuhsc.edu
What to Expect
You should log-in to the zoom meeting by approximately 8:00 AM if you are scheduled for a morning interview, and 12:00 PM if you are scheduled for an afternoon interview. During the day, you will be moved between various breakout rooms where you will have the opportunity to meet PA program faculty and staff, visit with students, and see a virtual tour the PA program building.
The beginning of the interview session will typically include a presentation about the program, financial aid, and reviewing how the breakout rooms will work. You will complete two individual interviews with members of the admissions committee as well as participate in a group interview. You will also electronically submit a typed, short essay and participate in a group interview. There will be some time between activities to visit with other candidates in the main zoom room.
A typical interview schedule (each candidate's schedule may differ, but will include each of the following activities whether in the morning or afternoon.):
