6th Annual West Texas Breast Cancer Symposium
Saturday, September 23, 2023
Conference Summary
Management of breast cancer care is complex in nature. The full scope of breast cancer management is not always fully understood by the patient’s primary care provider and care team. This symposium is designed to specifically address the management of breast cancer care with regard to sexual health, mental health, interventional radiology, radiation, surgery, reconstruction, and survivorship.
This activity will include an overview of care for breast cancer patients from diagnosis to survivorship to provide optimal patient care that is also patient-centered. Breast cancer treatment is a rapidly evolving field and treatment trends are moving towards individualized care. The rapidly evolving nature of the field makes it difficult for the healthcare team to keep up with the latest guidelines and recommendations.
The target audience for this conference is Healthcare Professionals and team members that care for breast cancer patients. This could include, but is not limited to, Primary Care, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, Oncology, Psychiatry, Radiology, Surgery, Physician Assistants, APRN / Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Social Work, or other Healthcare Professionals.
Upon completion of this conference, the attendees should be able to:
- Review and discuss current care guidelines in the management of breast cancer across varied disciplines.
- Recognize the appropriate workup for patients with breast cancer as well as understand the multidisciplinary approach to care so healthcare providers can strategically direct care afterdiagnosis.
- Define survivorship and adhere to the unique needs of patients after breast cancer care focusingon their long-term health and wellness.
