Hospitalist Fellowship Program

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Department of Family & Community  Medicine, in collaboration with (MCH) Procare, offers a one year fellowship with 2 positions for either a family medicine or internal medicine graduate interested in pursuing a career as a hospitalist. Procare is comprised of nine hospitalist physicians who care for over 30% of the inpatient population of Medical Center Hospital, a 362 bed regional teaching hospital. All members of Procare are actively involved in hospital processes including: leadership, quality, guideline development and implementation, patient safety, medical education, palliative care and information technology. Dr. Domingo Caparas serves as the Associate Fellowship Program Director. All members of the group are committed teachers and will be involved throughout the year in educating the hospitalist fellows. The field of hospital medicine is well-established and continues to grow with demand for hospitalists far outweighing supply. With the additional intense inpatient training, this fellowship will educate our graduates in a teaching hospital setting to prepare them to practice hospital medicine in a variety of settings.
