About
When the Texas Legislature established the TTUHSC School of Pharmacy in 1993, it created the first publicly funded pharmacy program in the United States in nearly five decades. Based in Amarillo, it is the only fully accredited TTUHSC School to have its home base outside of Lubbock.
The first TTUHSC School of Pharmacy classes began in August 1996 in the original SOP building, which was the first on the Amarillo campus and still serves as the administrative home for the SOP.
On April 25, 2019, the School of Pharmacy was named to honor Amarillo pharmacist, businessman, and philanthropist Jerry H. Hodge for his lifelong dedication and support of TTUHSC.
The school’s steady growth over more than 25 years has led to three additional campuses located in Lubbock, Dallas, and Abilene, and has helped the state of Texas address its pharmacist shortage.
