Account Creation FAQs
Q: I no longer have access to the email account used to create my BioRaider account and application.
Log into BioRaider.com, select My Account, and click Update Profile. You will be able to update your email address on this screen.
Q: Why did I receive an email from Texas Tech Undergraduate Admissions?
You may have selected an incorrect program of interest. Log into BioRaider.com, select My Account, and verify that your programs of interest are correct. If they are incorrect, please email graduate.school@ttuhsc.edu to request an update.
Q: What is RaiderConnect?
RaiderConnect is the account and application system for Texas Tech University undergraduate admissions. The correct portal for the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences is BioRaider.com.
Q: Why am I getting the error message, "One or more fields are required; please fix before continuing"?
The most common cause for this error is a blank zip code field. Double-check to ensure your zip code is entered correctly. International applicants should ensure the "International Address" box is checked and enter NA in the zip code field.
Q: Why is the Foreign Address line limited to 75 characters?
Our Student Information System imposes a 75-character limit (including spaces) for international address fields.
Application FAQs
Q: What should I do if I can't find my college(s) in the search?
Do not enter a city name in your search terms. Select only the country and state. If your institution still does not appear, select "The organization is not listed", check the box next to Unlisted School, and manually enter your institution details.
Q: Why are there strange characters inserted in my essay?
Special symbols, Greek letters, superscripts, or subscripts are not recognized by the application text editor. Additionally, pasting directly from Microsoft Word can introduce hidden formatting code. We recommend copying and pasting your text from a plain text editor (like Notepad or TextEdit).
Q: My essay/statement of purpose is longer than 3,000 characters. Can I submit it manually?
No. The personal statement is strictly limited to 3,000 characters (including spaces) inside the portal. Essays submitted separately via email or mail will not be considered.
Q: What is the application deadline?
Application deadlines for all GSBS degree programs can be viewed on our Admissions & Funding Page.
Q: I can't submit my materials by the deadline. Can I request an extension?
All applications and supplemental items must be received by the posted deadline. Due to application volume, we are unable to extend deadlines or grant individual exceptions.
Miscellaneous FAQs
Q: When will I be notified regarding an admission decision?
Each program concentration has an internal review committee that forwards recommendations to the central GSBS Admissions Committee. Decision notifications are issued once the GSBS Admissions Committee completes its final review. Status inquiries can be sent to Admissions Director Terri Lloyd.
Q: How do I submit my resume/CV?
A resume or CV is required for Ph.D. and Pharmaceutical Sciences applicants and should be uploaded directly as a supplemental item inside the BioRaider portal.
Q: Do I submit my immunization records during the application process?
No. Immunization records are required only after an applicant has officially accepted an offer of admission.
Q: Do I need to secure a Ph.D. mentor prior to applying to a Ph.D. program?
No. Ph.D. programs require lab rotations during your first year prior to selecting a primary research mentor. Correspondence with individual faculty members does not guarantee admission.
Q: What should I do if I get a "not secure" error message when visiting BioRaider.com?
