Summer Enrichment Program (SEP)

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine hosts its annual Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) for rising high school juniors and seniors who are interested in medicine. Program Format: one-week program during the month of June (Monday – Friday); coursework and hands-on experiences (medical terminology course, science course (chemistry or anatomy), suture clinic, ultrasound, basic life support training and certification, how to take a physical exam, engaging with medical students, tour of TTUHSC, SimLife Center, and Cancer Research Center, volunteering, communication skills, and learning how to prepare for the journey to medical school).

Mission

The Summer Enrichment Program strives to offer an opportunity of growth to incoming high school rising juniors and seniors from West Texas who aspire to attend medical school after completing an undergraduate degree. This goal is accomplished by providing guidance and encouragement while presenting insightful sessions and helpful activities for one week during the summer.

Information for Applicants

Applicants who are selected to participate in the Summer Enrichment Program will be notified through email. Program dates for SEP are scheduled for June 22, 2026 to June 26, 2026.

  • To be eligible to participate in SEP, you must:

    • Be a Texas resident 
    • Have a minimum GPA of a 3.25 on a 4.0 scale
    • Received A's and B's in your science classes
    • Have an interest in medicine or interest in becoming a physician 
    • Provide two letters of evaluation
    • Must be a current high school student
    • Complete online application
