Welcome to the Amarillo Academic Department of Surgery
The Amarillo Department of Surgery includes the Divisions of General & Acute Care Surgery and Trauma Surgery, with services spanning bariatric, breast, colorectal, hernia, anti-reflux, and thyroid/parathyroid surgery. Its faculty practice at major Texas Panhandle hospitals and provide surgical education to medical students, residents, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.
Residencies, Rotations & Collaborative Programs
We provide surgical education to third- and fourth-year medical students during their surgical rotations, as well as residents in internal medicine, family medicine, and OB-GYN through collaborative programs. Physician assistants and nurse practitioners from regional programs also receive surgical education.
