R. Russell Wilke, Ph.D.
Chair - Health Professions Advisory Committee
Dr. Russell Wilke earned his BS and MS in Biology at Angelo State and his PhD at The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Wilke has served as faculty member in the Dept of Biology since 1999. Since 2001 he has been a member of ASU’s Health Professions Advisory Committee and served as its chairman since 2008. Dr. Wilke also directs ASU's Joint Admissions Medical Program (since 2003) and led the biology department as its chair from 2011-2018. He currently teaches introductory majors biology, human anatomy and physiology, and graduate courses in science education. His research focuses on college science education, avian behavioral ecology, and forensic anatomy.
Enrique Jasso Jr., M.A.
Associate Director and Podcast Host
Enrique Jasso, Jr. is the associate director of the Texas Health Education Service, located in the TMDSAS and JAMP offices in Austin, TX. In this role, he educates applicants on the admissions process and updates health professions advisors and professional schools on applicant trends and predictive factors for success. Enrique is also responsible for the leading digital engagement initiatives, which include hosting Inside Health Education, a podcast that addresses application trends, academic and non-academic considerations for applicants, and prepares the next generation of health care professionals. He also manages two online communities: the TMDSAS Hub and the Non-traditional Applicant Groups. Enrique holds a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Sam Houston State University and a B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin.
Felix Morales, M.D.
Associate Dean of Admissions
Dr. Morales has served as the Associate Dean of Admissions since April 2017. He previously was named the Assistant Dean of Admissions in August 2016. He is a graduate of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. He also serves as an Associate Professor for the Department of Family and Community Medicine. He is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He has multiple roles in the school of medicine which include serving on various committees for Texas Tech and teaching in the FMAT program.
