Education
At Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), our Internal Medicine Education Programs are dedicated to cultivating the next generation of skilled, compassionate physicians. We provide comprehensive training opportunities through our Residency, Fellowship, Clerkship, and Observership programs, all grounded in TTUHSC’s mission of excellence, innovation, and integrity in patient care.
Verification for Internship, Residency and Fellowship Training
Send an e-mail with the name and specialty of the physician you are wanting to verify. We are only able to verify training for Internal Medicine and its subspecialties at the Lubbock campus; inquiries for other campuses or disciplines should be directed to the appropriate department. Our department requires an administrative fee of $100 per residency and/or fellowship subspecialty verified. Verifications are processed during business hours, Monday through Friday.

Internal Medicine Research
Our faculty have won many research awards and are internationally recognized for their scholarly pursuits. There are currently five endowed chairs within the Department of Internal Medicine that promote research. We also have several large collaborative research groups: Texas Tech Cancer Research Group, Center for Renal and Urologic Research Group, Cardiovascular Research Group, GI/ID Research Group.
Our electronic journal publishes original articles, reviews, commentary on public policy, educational updates, case reports, images, and letters. Editor-in-chief Kenneth Nugent, MD is the Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship Program Director, as well as an SSCI Mentor of the Year award winner.

Patient Care
The Internal Medicine Department is the largest clinical department at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. We are here to provide for the health care needs of adult patients in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. We provide all levels of care from being your primary care physician to fulfilling your needs with many types of specialty care. We offer exceptional physician care for diseases of the heart, lungs, stomach, colon, and kidneys.
