As the Department of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, we strive to provide the highest standard of medical care for pediatric patients from birth through adolescence, encompassing primary, subspecialty, and tertiary care. We serve as an advocate for pediatric health issues affecting the infants, children, and adolescents of our region and state.

Pediatrics Research
The Pediatric Cancer Research Center at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine is a regional hub for advancing cancer research and improving therapies for both children and adults with hard-to-treat cancers. Established in 2008, the center drives innovative laboratory and clinical studies, collaborates with leading investigators and pharmaceutical partners, and supports global research efforts through the Childhood Cancer Repository, an international resource of patient-derived cancer models supported by Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.

Welcome to the Department of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
It is an incredible honor to serve as Chair of Pediatrics and lead a department dedicated to children across West Texas and Eastern New Mexico.
This mission is deeply personal to me. I grew up in Eastern New Mexico and understand the challenges faced by families in rural and geographically dispersed communities. I completed medical school and pediatric residency at Texas Tech, making the opportunity to return home and lead the department that trained me especially meaningful.
Our department serves an extraordinary geographic area, with families often traveling hundreds of miles for specialized pediatric care. Through our pediatric subspecialists, community partnerships, and commitment to clinical excellence, we strive to provide exceptional care as close to home as possible.
Education is equally central to our mission. I believe pediatric training at Texas Tech stands alongside the best in the country, combining outstanding clinical experiences and dedicated educators with meaningful mentorship and teamwork. Our pediatric community is truly a family, and I experienced that firsthand when I was welcomed back with open arms.
We are also proud to call Lubbock home. It is a growing, thriving community with so much to offer, and one that you truly have to experience to fully appreciate.
Looking ahead, we are committed to expanding pediatric services, training exceptional physicians and health professionals, strengthening our research infrastructure, and continuing our tradition of excellence in medical education, all in service of the children and families of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico.
