Confianza: Hispanic-Oriented Medicine Enrichment at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center - Permian Basin is a federally designated Health Resources and Services Administration funded Hispanic Center of Excellence created to:
- address the physician shortage in one of the most rural areas of the nation.
- recruit, train, and retain underrepresented in medicine (URM) students from the target area to become family medicine providers
- generate culturally mindful health care providers to cater to the underserved population of rural West Texas.
Helping Hands Food Pantry
The TTUHSC and our local communities stand together to combat food insecurity for our students, staff, and faculty. Through the Helping Hands Food Pantry, we work to ensure our TTUHSC family members have access to nutritious food. The IT Division, under the leadership of CIO Vince Fell, is the executive sponsor for Helping Hands.
Human Trafficking Collaborative
The mission of the Texas Tech University Health Science Center (TTUHSC) Human Trafficking Collaborative (HTC) is to combat human trafficking in Texas communities and help those directly impacted by human trafficking through education, research, and advocacy by collaborative involvement of partners with diverse expertise.
The United States reported 11,500 cases of human trafficking in 2019, according to the Human Trafficking Hotline. Texas made up 1,080 of those cases, but not all cases get reported.
