Midland is the proud home of the Physician Assistant program, a vital part of the School of Health Professions. This program, initiated in 1999, has a clear and important mission: to educate and prepare physician assistants to deliver essential healthcare services in primary care settings, especially in rural and underserved areas of West Texas. The Odessa campus stands out as one of the nation's largest family medicine programs, specializing in rural medicine. Situated in downtown Odessa, the campus features modern facilities, classrooms and administrative offices conveniently located near the region's largest hospital, Medical Center Hospital. Our Permian Basin programs in Midland/Odessa offer a comprehensive education in a dynamic urban setting, granting access to diverse patient populations.

  • Three elements form the basis of the TTUHSC School of Medicine mission – teaching physicians, providing health care of the highest quality to the people of West Texas and conducting research to unlock continuing medical mysteries. By providing a balance of experience in these three areas of focus, and by placing an emphasis upon primary care, the TTUHSC School of Medicine continually strives to improve health care for generations of West Texans.
