I was born in Strasbourg, France and grew up in a region in which biluingalism French-German is an essential asset. I earned a BSc in Biology and a MS in Pharmacology (with a concentration on Neurosciences) from the University of Strasbourg (formerly University Louis Pasteur), followed by a PhD in human physiology from the University of Zurich, with my thesis focused on understanding how hypoxia disrupts the BBB and how surrounding cells part of the neurovascular unit (astrocytes, pericytes, neurons) modulate such response.
I have completed my postdoctoral training under the mentorship of Drs. Gregory Bix (Tulane University) and Eric Shusta (University of Wisconsin-Madison).
