A West Texas girl! I grew up in the small community of Marfa, Texas where I became inspired to provide the people of West Texas and its smaller communities with valuable health care. I attended the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas and graduated with a BS in Biology and an MA in Biology. I attended medical school at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and graduated with a doctor of medicine (MD). I completed my pediatric residency at Texas Tech University Health Science Center and went on to attend the neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship program at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. I joined the faculty at Mednax Texas and worked as a staff neonatologist at University Medical Center NICU in Lubbock TX. Currently I am a faculty member at TTUHSC Department of Pediatrics and serve as a clinician in general pediatrics.
I married Mike Montanez 2007. Mike currently works with the City of Lubbock. We have been blessed with a son who is a talented in visual and performing arts. He is a student at Lubbock High. We plan to stay in Lubbock for our lifetime. I guess I remain a West Texas girl.
