Dr. Higbea is the School of Pharmacy Director of Interprofessional Education and an Associate Professor in Ambulatory Care at the Texas Tech University Health Science Center (TTUHSC) Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy (SOP) on the Dallas Campus. She is a Distinguished Fellow of the Texas Interprofessional Consortium. Her practice site is at the UT Southwestern Family Medicine Clinic at Texas Health Dallas where she provides medication management and collaborative care, and where she precepts pharmacy students and residents. Dr. Higbea received her Doctorate of Pharmacy from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Pharmacy in 2013. She completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at University Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) St. Margaret where she also completed a PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Family Medicine. During her residency she completed a 2 year Faculty Development Fellowship, and has provided presentations at local, state, and national professional meetings. Dr. Higbea participates in team-based active-learning experiences, experiential training of pharmacy students, Advanced Ambulatory Care Elective course, and a mentor for IPPE and the P4 Grand Rounds courses. She also develops, coordinates, and precepts IPE events and Student-Run Free Clinics. She served as the first pharmacist on the Board of Directors of the Society of Student-Run Free Clinics 2019-2024. She is an active member and serves on committees for ACCP and served as Chair of the Education and Training PRN for 2022-2023. Dr. Higbea also serves on multiple IPE committees within the HSC and committees within the SOP, including the SOP Professional Affairs Committee.
