Brandi Sawyer, DNP, RN, CCRN-K, is an Assistant Professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing (TTUHSC SON) in the Traditional Undergraduate (TUG) Program. Brandi graduated from TTUHSC with a Bachelor of Nursing in 2005, a Master of Nursing Education in 2012, and a post-master's Doctor of Nursing Practice Executive Leadership Program in May 2022.. She started her career in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and, over 13 years, served as a bedside nurse, charge nurse, Clinical Instructor, and Assistant Director at University Medical Center (UMC). Brandi has served as faculty at TTUHSC SON TUG for the past 8 years and is currently the Level 1 Lead.
She is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Iota Mu Chapter, a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the Texas Organization for Nursing Leadership (TONL/SPONE), and the Texas Nursing Association/American Nurses Association(TNA/ANA). Brandi holds a certification in Critical Care Knowledge from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. She currently serves on the board for the Iota Mu Chapter of STTI as President. Brandi was awarded the Team Teaching Award in 2026 with Level 1 TUG, the Exceptional Mentor Award in 2025, and previously the Team Teaching Faculty Award with her Level 3 Colleagues. In 2017, she was honored as part of the inaugural class awarded as South Plains Great 25 Nurses (SPG25 ) and given the Spirit of Safety and Quality at University Medical Center for her leadership and quality improvement initiative through the creation and growth of the Pediatric Collaborative.
Brandi is a wife. mother, teacher, mentor, friend, and "cool" aunt. Her passions include faith, family, education, fitness, flipping houses, and missions. She has served on local and international medical mission trips, including Brazil and Nicaragua. Professionally, Brandi is passionate about facilitating newly licensed nurses' transition to practice and enhancing the nursing profession through the effective growth and retention of her graduates.
