Carrie E Edwards

Associate Professor

Dr. Edwards received her PhD in Nursing from Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas. She is currently an Associate Professor of Nursing at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas and former Director of Forensic Nurse Staffing of West Texas. Dr. Edwards was certified as an adult and pediatric sexual assault nurse examiner in 2005 by the Office of the Attorney General for the State of Texas. Over the past 21 years, she has treated greater than 800 victims of sexual abuse in Lubbock, Collin and Dallas County. As a practicing board certified forensic nurse, Dr. Edwards works as a sexual assault nurse examiner and as a legal nurse consultant. She is a content expert in the field of forensic nursing and has lectured both nationally and internationally on issues of violence against women and children. Dr. Edwards is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Scientists and has formally been recognized by the United States Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime, the Hi-Plains Chapter of the Emergency Nurses Association, the Young Professionals of Greater Lubbock, Great 100 Nurses of Dallas-Ft. Worth, and as a Distinguished Alumni from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing.
