Celeste Marie Hollands, MD is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Amarillo, with a distinguished national and international career in pediatric surgery, surgical education, and minimally invasive surgical innovation. Board-certified in General Surgery, Dr. Hollands completed her pediatric surgery fellowship at Miami Children’s Hospital following trauma fellowship training at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and general surgery training at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Hollands has held academic appointments at TTUHSC, the University of South Alabama, the University at Buffalo (SUNY), Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, and the University of Rochester. She previously served as Director of the Division of Pediatric Surgery and has held multiple leadership roles including Medical Director of Pediatric Surgery and Medical Director for Children’s Surgery Verification at Covenant Children’s Hospital.
A nationally recognized leader in robotic and minimally invasive pediatric surgery, Dr. Hollands was an early pioneer in robotic applications in children and has received national awards from SAGES and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons for her innovative surgical work. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and national curriculum initiatives, including leadership roles in the ACS/ASE Medical Student Core Curriculum and Simulation-Based Surgical Skills Curriculum.
Dr. Hollands is deeply committed to surgical education and mentorship. She has supervised residents, fellows, and medical students across multiple institutions for over two decades and currently provides direct resident supervision, simulation-based instruction, and didactic education at TTUHSC. She serves as a mentor through the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the American College of Surgeons, and the Association of Women Surgeons, and has contributed extensively to national conversations on mentorship, leadership development, and professional advancement in surgery.
She is an active Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has held progressive leadership roles within the North Texas Chapter, currently serving in the presidential leadership track. Dr. Hollands is widely invited to speak nationally and internationally on pediatric minimally invasive surgery, surgical education, mentorship, and professional development.
Through sustained excellence in clinical care, innovation in surgical technique, national leadership in education, and long-standing commitment to mentorship, Dr. Hollands has made enduring contributions to pediatric surgery and academic medicine.
