Corey Lynn Swackhammer

Assistant Professor

Corey Swackhammer is a registered Medical Laboratory Scientist and Molecular Biology Technologist who graduated from the Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) program in 2014. Her clinical foundation includes five years as a medical technologist in the microbiology and virology department at University Medical Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center, and additional experience as a microbiology consultant and clinical generalist. Throughout her practice, she has performed low- to high-complexity testing, managed departmental supply chains, and served as an affiliate trainer for new hires including day-to-day bench analyses, and more specialized frontline support for new laboratory instrument and software implementation. Beyond her clinical duties, she has demonstrated leadership by serving on internal boards to improve employee satisfaction and inter-departmental relationships. She transitioned into academia with a background as an undergraduate teaching assistant in higher-ed anatomy and physiology and has since expanded her expertise by earning a Master of Science in Molecular Pathology. When earning a Master's Degree, she was inducted into the TTUHSC Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society as a graduate student. Since then, she has been elected as a PKP Officer as President-Elect in 2024, and then Chapter President in 2026.
