Dr. Cory Church is a Professor in the School of Nursing. He currently serves as Chair of the School of Nursing Faculty Council and as Vice-President of the University Faculty Senate, providing leadership in shared governance and faculty advocacy across the institution.
Dr. Church previously served as Undergraduate Program Director and Assistant Professor at Texas Woman’s University. He is actively engaged in national accreditation and leadership efforts and serves on the American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs (2022–2029), where he currently serves as Chair. His work has advanced standards and quality in nurse residency and fellowship programs across the United States and internationally. He is board-certified in Nursing Professional Development.
Dr. Church’s scholarship focuses on the transition to practice and workforce outcomes of newly licensed registered nurses, with an emphasis on well-being, retention, and patient safety. His contributions to research, teaching, and service have been recognized through multiple honors, including the Outstanding Faculty of the Year Award from the TTUHSC Student Government Association (2025), the TTUHSC Novice Investigator Award (2024), the TWU Susan Cass Faculty Excellence Award in Service (2020), and Fellow of the Texas Council of Chief Academic Officers Texas Academic Leadership Academy (2018).
