Dr. Courtney M. Queen is Associate Dean for Strategic Partnerships, Interim Department Chair, and Associate Professor at the Julia Jones Matthews School of Population and Public Health at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Queen’s work advances translational public health innovation to improve access to care, particularly for rural and medically underserved populations. Her research integrates artificial intelligence (AI), digital health, and population health strategies to support early detection, prevention, and implementation in real-world settings.

A collaborative and interdisciplinary scholar, Dr. Queen has led and contributed to federally funded research initiatives, including projects supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF). Her work emphasizes scalable, technology-enabled solutions that address structural barriers to care such as distance, cost, and workforce limitations. In recognition of her research contributions, she has received the Texas Tech University Systems Chancellor’s Award for Research.

Dr. Queen’s scholarship spans domestic and international contexts, with collaborations in West Africa, Europe, and the Nordic-Baltic region. She is a Fulbright Scholar (Rīga Stradiņš University, Latvia), where her work focused on health equity and health systems, and she continues to engage in global collaborations related to aging populations, workforce sustainability, and access to care.

In addition to her research, Dr. Queen plays a central role in advancing academic program development, faculty affairs, and workforce-aligned education, including curriculum innovation, competency-based training, and strategic partnerships with health systems, industry, and community organizations.

Her work reflects a sustained commitment to integrating research, education, and practice to strengthen public health systems and improve population health outcomes.
