David Leonard

David Leonard received a PhD in Physics from The University of Texas at Austin in 1993. He was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship in the Center for Statistical Mechanics and Complex Systems at UT Austin, where he was also a lecturer in the Physics Department. He has industry experience in finance and marketing statistics. In 2004 he joined the Clinical Sciences faculty of The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. There he worked on the Dallas Heart Study, a population-based probability sample of the residential population of Dallas County, Texas, the Barbershop Study, a group-randomized clinical trial of hypertension detection and control in Dallas County, and, through the Center for Human Nutrition, the Cooper Center Longitudinal Study. He is currently a preventive health researcher and biostatistician at the Kenneth H. Cooper Institute and Associate Professor of Practice in the Julia Jones Matthews School of Population and Public Health at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
