Erin Barr received her undergraduate and masters degrees from the University of Calgary before completing medical school at St Georges University. She subsequently went on to do her pediatric residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria and pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship as well as clinical pharmacology and pharmacogenomics fellowship at the University of Chicago. Currently she works as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at TTUHSC in the division of pediatric hematology/oncology since 2018. Her research focus has always been on clinical and translation work among children. During her masters degree she looked at stunting in Amerindian children from the Rupununi savannah of Guyana. Starting in residency and fellowship her research has turned more towards improving the health and outcomes of pediatric hematology/ oncology patients with a specific interest in pediatric solid tumors. Publications to date have focused on the use of cell free DNA as well as looking at response criteria and outcomes. She is very interested clinical trial work and bringing new treatments to pediatric oncology. Recently she has been given the opportunity to lead a national phase 1 clinical trial as the principal investigator for the Pediatric Early Phase Clinical Trials Network (PEP-CTN).
