Holly Wei, PhD, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, is Dean and Professor at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing and holds the UMC Health System Endowed Chair for Care Excellence in Nursing. She is a nationally recognized academic leader known for advancing strategic growth, fostering high-performing organizational cultures, and driving innovation in nursing education and healthcare systems.
Dr. Wei is a health systems scholar and nursing theorist (Convergent Care Theory), whose work has shaped professional practice models and strengthened workforce engagement, patient outcomes, and care quality across complex health systems. Her research focuses on leadership development, organizational culture, workforce well-being, and the integration of human-centered artificial intelligence in healthcare. She has authored more than 100 scholarly publications, approaching 6,000 citations, reflecting the broad impact of her work on leadership, organizational culture, and healthcare transformation.
An award-winning author of Visionary Leadership in Healthcare (AJN Book of the Year), Dr. Wei has published extensively on leadership, caring science, and healthcare transformation. She serves in national leadership roles across higher education and professional organizations, including AACN, CCNE, NLN, and ALSN, and contributes to the advancement of the profession through extensive editorial leadership, including service on multiple journals’ editorial boards, as an Associate Editor, and as a column editor.
