Julie received her PNP in primary care in 2004, after practicing in the PICU for four years. In 2008, she completed her post masters in pediatric acute care. In 2023 she earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Chatham University. Since 2004, she has practiced pediatric cardiology in acute and critical care areas. She joined the faculty at Texas Tech University School of Nursing in 2014 to develop and launch the pediatric nurse practitioner acute care program. Julie was recognized as APRN of the Year at Texas Children's Hospital, 2014 and received the AANP state excellence award in 2017. Her areas of particular interest are legislative advocacy for nurse practitioner practice, evidence-based practice, and teaching effective provider communication.
