Lisa has worked in Pediatric Nursing for the past 41 years.She completed her BSN and Master's degrees at Texas Woman's University and earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at the University of Alabama. For the last 28 years she has worked as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in both acute and primary care. The majority of her career has been spent working in pediatric critical care and emergency medicine. Lisa recently shifted her focus to pediatric neurology and currently holds a full-time position at Children's Health in the Pediatric Neurology department. Lisa has a daughter with autism and developmental delays, so she has experience as both a health care provider and a parent. Lisa also has a special interest in burnout and how it affects nurses and nurse practitioners as well as nurse practitioner students. Her DNP work was in the area of burnout prevention and resilience training. Lisa joined TTUHSC's pediatric acute care program 4 years ago and enjoys helping students to make the transition from bedside nurse to nurse practitioner and watching their skills develop as they progress through the program.
