Dr. Melissa Weems, DNP, RNC-OB, CNML, NEA-BC, is an Assistant Professor at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Nursing in Odessa, Texas. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from TTUHSC in 2025, where her project, “The Rainbow After the Storm: Navigating Pregnancy After Perinatal Loss,” focused on improving care for families experiencing perinatal loss. She also holds an MSN in Nursing Education/Administration from the University of Texas at El Paso and a BSN from Texas Woman’s University.

Dr. Weems brings over a decade of leadership experience as a Clinical Manager in Labor and Delivery, along with extensive bedside experience in high-risk obstetrics. She is an AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Instructor and remains actively involved in professional organizations. Her scholarly work centers on perinatal loss and maternal health, and her DNP project will be published in October in the Journal of Perinatal Education.

Outside of her professional role, Dr. Weems is a devoted wife and mother, a proud Christian, and a dog mom. She has a passion for teaching and especially enjoys working with Level I nursing students, helping them build a strong foundation for their future in nursing.
