Born in Molesworth, United Kigdom (parents in USAF). Grew up mostly in San Luis Obispo, CA. Attended University of California, Santa Cruz for both undergraduate degree and PhD (married Elizabeth McCardy in 1987). Did postdoc at Washington University Sch of Medicine in St. Louis (1990-1992). Both of my two children were born during this period (Kelly and Henry). Continued postdoctoral work at Harvard Medical in Boston, MA before joining faculty of Pharmacology and Neuroscience at TTUHSC/SOM in 1995.
