Michael Shawn Wiggins

Assistant Professor

Dr. Wiggins has served in healthcare leadership positions for over 30 years. He has experience leading both for-profit and nonprofit healthcare organizations, but dedicated most of his career to leading academic health systems. He has served in a variety of roles, including Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Regional Sr. Vice President, Vice President of Operations, Director of Practice Operations, and Quality Improvement Coordinator.

Throughout his career, Dr. Wiggins has maintained a commitment to higher education and held faculty positions at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, The University of Memphis, and The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School. He is regularly invited to deliver presentations at universities and professional organizations across the country.

Dr. Wiggins is also very involved in the community, serving on several nonprofit boards and volunteer organizations. He believes that healthcare organizations have a responsibility to improve the health, well-being, and economic strength of the communities they serve.

He is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), and a Fellow of the American College of Health Data Management.
