Natalie Marie Scanlon

Assistant Professor, Vice Chair of Education

Having been born and raised in Minnesota, Dr. Natalie Scanlon graduated cum laude with honors in psychology and Spanish from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. She then earned her M.A. and PhD in clinical psychology from Texas Tech University. Much of Dr. Scanlon's graduate training focused on children's symptoms of depression and anxiety, as well as behavioral issues, and she went on to complete her pre-doctoral internship on a child and adolescent inpatient unit with Rogers Behavioral Health in Wisconsin. Having also focused on evidence-based treatments for depression, anxiety, and personality disorders with adults, Dr. Scanlon then completed her post-doctoral fellowship at an adult residential program with Rogers and became the Clinical Supervisor for the program for several years. She was also the Clinical Supervisor for a partial hospitalization program as well as an intensive outpatient program for adults as they stepped down from the residential level of care.

Dr. Scanlon and her family then returned to Texas, and she worked as an outpatient Clinical Psychologist with Great Oaks Counseling Center in the greater Austin area. Dr. Scanlon provided individual, couple's and family therapy and carried a caseload of patients ranging in age from eight years old through older adulthood.

Dr. Scanlon is now housed within the Department of Psychiatry at TTUHSC and is providing clinical supervision for psychiatry residents as well as didactic training. Dr. Scanlon is also seeing patients directly at the outpatient psychiatry clinic at HSC as well as the Adolescent Medicine Clinic through Texas Tech Physicians. Additionally, she is providing both direct clinical care and supervision within the Campus Alliance for Telehealth Resources (CATR) supported by the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT) programs.
