Nicole D. Lopez, MD, FAAFP is an Associate Professor of Family Medicine in Amarillo, Texas. She earned her medical degree from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in 1999 and completed her Family Medicine residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2002.
After more than a decade in private practice, Dr. Lopez joined the faculty in 2017. She completed a Graduate Certificate in Academic Medicine in 2019 and currently serves as the department’s clinic director.
Dr. Lopez has been recognized for her excellence in teaching, leadership, and service, receiving the Regional Dean’s Outstanding New Faculty Award (2019), the Regional Dean’s Clinical Teaching Award (2021 and 2025) and the Regional Dean’s Departmental Service Award (2022). She holds numerous leadership roles on campus committees and is actively involved with the Texas Academy of Family Physicians (TAFP).
